| Toward
the front entry, a water well, typical of those seen in the Veneto region, and
a flagstaff add a sense of welcome for our homebound sea captain Corinthian
columns at the entry add to the sense of grandeur. Inside the views from
the foyer are through the living room to the 25-foot-high rear wall of curving
glass which reveals views of the swimming pool water and waters of the bay beyond.
For interior designer Pam Novakovich, allied member A.S.I.D., the plan would be
to establish an individuality, a little something different, for each room while
maintaining a design flow and consistency throughout the house. The living
room immediately established the elegant tone of the home: yet, at the same time,
there are rustic touches which offset the formality to make it invitingly comfortable.
In fact, there is a sense that if guests or grandchildren put a nick here or there,
it will only add to the patina.
